Arvid Halgeir Nergård was a notable Norwegian bishop in the Church of Norway. Born on April 11, 1923, in Lenvik Municipality, he pursued higher education, obtaining a degree in agronomy in 1943 and a cand.theol. degree in 1952. Nergård served in various capacities within the church from 1957 until 1990, including curacies in several municipalities before becoming bishop of the Diocese of Nord-Hålogaland. He passed away on November 23, 2006, leaving behind a legacy in the Norwegian Lutheran community.
