She excelled in junior rankings, becoming number one in the state for the 14s division and sixth nationally for the 18s. McGuire competed at Wimbledon four times, reaching the third round on two occasions. In 1951, she was the runner-up at the Irish Championships. McGuire married Edward M. Manning, Jr. in 1956, and they had two sons together. She passed away on August 17, 2013.
