Arvo Summanen was a Finnish painter and a member of the Brondan vintin artist group in the 1950s. He fled with his family to Okeroiset near Lahti and later moved to Helsinki, where he studied at the Taideteollinen oppilaitos from 1948 to 1950 and at the Taideakatemia from 1951 to 1954. He held his first exhibitions in 1959 and lived in Villa Furunäs in Meilahti for the rest of his life after 1970. Despite serious illness, he continued to paint until his last days and had his final exhibition in 2002.
