Arzu Çerkezoğlu is a Turkish physician and trade unionist born on August 11, 1969, in Şavşat. She made history as the first female president of DİSK (Confederation of Revolutionary Trade Unions of Turkey), one of the largest trade union confederations in the country. Çerkezoğlu was elected president on May 29, 2018, after serving as the General Secretary of DİSK for five years, making her the first woman to hold that position. She is a professional pathologist.
