Asaeda Zenshō (March 8, 1944 – January 3, 2007) was a Japanese scholar of Buddhism and history from Shimane Prefecture. He served as a professor at Ryukoku University and was the head priest of Jōsenji, a prominent Jōdo Shinshū temple. A Doctor of Literature, he extensively researched Buddhist history from ancient to modern times, with a focus on the 'Myōkōjin-den' narratives in his later years. His deep respect for Zen Buddhism was developed during his student days at Tōfuku-ji. He passed away at the age of 62 due to pancreatic cancer.
