Ashley Tappin, born on December 18, 1974, in Marietta, Georgia, is a former American swimmer and three-time Olympic champion. At age 13, she became the youngest swimmer to compete in US trials. She won a gold medal at the 1990 World Championships and three golds at the 1991 Pan American Games. Tappin earned Olympic gold in the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay in 1992 and won two additional gold medals in 2000. Following her career and a brief modeling stint, she now serves as a swimming and diving coach at the University of New Orleans.
