Ashwani Kumar is an Indian politician and attorney born on October 26, 1952. He served as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha for Punjab and held positions such as Union Minister of Law and Justice. He was one of the youngest Additional Solicitor Generals of India at 37. A spokesperson for the Indian National Congress, Kumar argued significant cases in the Supreme Court, including the Bhopal Gas Tragedy. He has been a Rajya Sabha member since 2002 and resigned from the Congress party in February 2022.
