Aslı Giray is a Turkish Cypriot musician born on August 18, 1965, in Ankara. She began her music career by playing piano at the Settlement Music School in Philadelphia. After moving to Cyprus in 1977, she studied under Jale Derviş and excelled in the ABRSM Grade 8 exam in 1982. Giray graduated from Brown University with a double major in music and biology in 1987. She founded the music department at Eastern Mediterranean University in 2000 and served as its head until 2005, teaching various music courses afterward.
