Åsne Ø. Høgetveit, born on December 17, 1985, became the youngest county politician when elected to the Telemark county council in 2003 for the Socialist Left Party. She led the Socialist Student Organization from 2009 to 2011 and served as the education and political advisor for the Student Parliament at the University of Tromsø. In 2011–2012, she was politically responsible in the executive committee of the Norwegian Student Organization. As of 2016, she is a PhD candidate in Russian culture at the University of Tromsø.
