Ruth Astrid Olivia Gräslund, born on February 14, 1945, in Uppsala, is a notable Swedish biophysicist. She studied technical physics at the Royal Institute of Technology, earning her master's degree in 1967. Following that, she pursued a Ph.D. in biophysics at Stockholm University, completing her dissertation in 1974. Gräslund worked at the same institution until 1988, becoming an associate professor in biophysics in 1977. She served as a professor of medical biophysics at Umeå University from 1988 to 1993, and then returned to Stockholm University as a biophysics professor. Since 1993, she is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, served as secretary of the Nobel Committee for Chemistry from 1996 to 2014, and was a member of the committee from 2010.
