Atanas Tarev is a Bulgarian athlete and businessman born on January 31, 1958, in the village of Bolyartsi. He specialized in pole vaulting and trained with AFD 'Trakia'. Tarev achieved significant success in athletics, winning a bronze medal at the World Championships in Helsinki in 1983 and several bronze medals at European Championships. He became the European Indoor Champion in 1986. Tarev competed in the 1980 Moscow Olympics but did not advance and missed the 1984 Los Angeles games due to a boycott, finishing with no marks in the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
