Athanasios Davakis is a Greek lawyer and politician born on March 18, 1962, in Athens, with roots from a small village in Messenia. He is a member of the New Democracy party, serving as a member of the Hellenic Parliament for Laconia and was previously the Minister of National Defense from 2013 to 2014 under Prime Minister Antonis Samaras. Since July 17, 2019, he has been the President of the Special Permanent Committee on Armaments Programs and Contracts of the Hellenic Parliament. He is married and has one daughter.
