Atsushi Uemura is a Japanese painter born on April 12, 1933, known for his contributions to Japanese painting as a member of the Japan Art Academy. He is a professor emeritus at Kyoto City University of Arts and has served as vice president of the university. Uemura is the director of the Nara Research Institute of the Wild Bird Society of Japan and has resided in Nara City. He comes from a lineage of artists, being the son of Matsukō Uemura and the grandson of Matsuen Uemura, both of whom were also celebrated artists.
