Auður Eir Vilhjálmsdóttir is an Icelandic Protestant cleric born on April 21, 1937. She made history on September 29, 1974, by becoming the first woman ordained as a minister in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Iceland. Following her graduation in theology from the University of Iceland in 1962, she faced challenges to be accepted as a pastor, which she overcame by gaining support from her congregation. Auður is married and has four daughters, with two of them also serving as priests.
