August Laumets was an Estonian clergyman born on January 12, 1911, in Kükita. He attended Väike-Maarja Gymnasium and studied theology at the University of Tartu from 1929 to 1938. After his ordination in 1940, he served as the pastor of the Väike-Maarja congregation from 1941 until 1991 and held various positions within the church, including assistant bishop in 1971 and bishop in 1975. He retired in 1991 and lived in Väike-Maarja until his death on February 19, 1996.
