Austin Albert Mardon, born on June 25, 1962, is a Canadian recipient of the Order of Canada. He is a writer, doctor, and local leader known for his extensive volunteer work and advocacy for individuals with disabilities. Mardon serves as an assistant professor at the John Dossetor Health Ethics Centre at the University of Alberta. In the mid-1980s, he founded the Canadian Polar Institute, a non-profit based in Edmonton, Alberta, which he continues to lead. He has co-authored several books with his wife, Katherine Mardon, a lawyer and activist.
