Avgust Lavrenčič was a Slovenian painter and stage designer born on February 24, 1925, in Rogaška Slatina. He studied art at the Academy of Fine Arts, graduating in 1954, and later became a visual arts teacher. As a free artist, he produced around seventy paintings and several gouaches, his style reflecting a veristic version of (neo)surrealism. He also worked extensively in theatre scenography, designing about a hundred sets. Lavrenčič was recognized for his contributions with various art awards and was involved in cultural initiatives in Celje.
