Aya Daidō (大道 あや) was a Japanese painter and picture book author born on April 11, 1909, in Hiroshima Prefecture. She began painting at the age of 60, creating hundreds of vibrant works featuring flowers and animals. Her mother, Sumako Maruki, gained fame as a painter in her 70s, and her family included notable artists such as her brother Iri Maruki, known for his works on the Hiroshima atomic bomb. Aya Daidō passed away on September 14, 2010.
