Ayman Nour is an Egyptian liberal politician born on December 5, 1964. He is a former member of the Wafd Party, a former deputy in the People's Assembly, and the founder of the Ghad Party and later Ghad Al-Thawra Party. Nour ran against Hosni Mubarak in the 2005 Egyptian presidential elections, finishing second according to official figures. He was arrested shortly after the elections and served four and a half years in prison. He also ran for president in 2012 representing Ghad Al-Thawra but was disqualified from the elections.
