He played for prominent clubs like Al-Ahly and Zamalek, as well as the Egypt national team during the mid-1980s to early 1990s. He was part of the national team that participated in the 1990 World Cup in Italy. At the age of 21, he became the youngest top scorer in the Egyptian Premier League for the 1983-1984 season, contributing significantly to Al-Ahly with 19 titles and 57 goals.
