Boris Anisimovich Timoshchuk was a Soviet, Ukrainian, and Russian archaeologist and historian, born on April 7, 1919, in Luka and passed away on February 26, 2003, in Chernivtsi. He was a prominent researcher of the ancient history of Eastern Slavs and the history of Bukovina. Timoshchuk founded an archaeological research school at Chernivtsi University and co-organized the Ukrainian University in Moscow in 1992. He also served as the honorary chairman of the Ukrainian Historical Club in Moscow from 1995 to 1997. He was married to the Russian archaeologist Irina Rusanova.
