His political career faced a significant event on December 31, 2015, when he was arrested with 17 others for an attack on journalists outside the residence of fellow politician Vijayakanth. In the 2016 elections, Parthasarathy's constituency was won by a rival candidate, Virugai V. N. Ravi.
