Bramine Eelcoline Marie 'Babs' van Wely (October 22, 1924 – March 14, 2007) was a Dutch illustrator and author of children's books. In addition to children's literature, she created illustrations for health books, posters, and designed children's stamps in 1971 and 1978. Babs spent her childhood in the Netherlands and the Dutch East Indies and was interned in a Japanese concentration camp during World War II, where she began drawing for children. After the war, she studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and later became a lecturer there.
