Baidyanath Bhattacharya, also known as Banikumar, was a prominent Indian Bengali radio broadcaster, lyricist, producer, and theatre director. Living in Kolkata, he was associated with All India Radio from the 1930s, contemporaneous with notable figures like Pankaj Kumar Mallik and Birendra Krishna Bhadra. He is best known for composing and introducing 'Mahishasur Mardini', a radio musical program that has been broadcast on Mahalaya at 4 AM since 1931, narrated by Birendra Krishna Bhadra.
