Balla D. Károly (born September 9, 1956, in Ungvár) is a Hungarian writer, editor, and blogger from Transcarpathia, recipient of the József Attila Prize. He started as a poet and has since published numerous collections of poetry, short stories, essays, plays, and novels, totaling nearly thirty independent books. He has led writers' groups, founded magazines, and initiated internet portals. In the early 2000s, he gradually reduced his public and literary organizing commitments, choosing a more reclusive life while still maintaining an active presence in publishing and on the internet.
