Banner Thomas was an American bassist born on September 6, 1954. He gained fame as the original bassist for the band Molly Hatchet, contributing to their first four studio albums and co-writing hits like 'Gator Country' and 'Flirtin' with Disaster.' He left the band in 1981 due to a dispute with guitarist Dave Hlubek. Later, he formed his own group, Big Engine, and continued performing in local bands in Jacksonville, Florida, until his death from pneumonia at the age of 62 on April 10, 2017.
