Barbara Nicolette Breit was an accomplished American tennis player born on December 30, 1937, in New York City. She rose to prominence in the 1950s, winning back-to-back national under 18 titles in 1954 and 1955. Notably, she made a significant upset against third-seeded Beverly Baker Fleitz at the 1955 U.S. National Championships. At the age of 17, she was seeded No. 1 at what is now known as the Cincinnati Masters, a record for the youngest top seed in women's singles at the event. She passed away on July 20, 2022.
