Barbra Casbar Siperstein, known as Babs Siperstein, was a prominent American political and transgender-rights activist. Coming out as a trans woman in the late 1980s, she dedicated her efforts to activism after the death of her wife in 2001. Siperstein played an influential role in several Democratic Party organizations, notably advocating for gender inclusion in legislation addressing discrimination and hate crimes in New Jersey. In 2009, she made history as the only openly transgender member of the Democratic National Committee, where she served until 2017.
