Barbu Petrescu is a Romanian politician born on April 1, 1932, in Săpunari, Lehliu, Călărași, Romania. He was a member of the Romanian Communist Party (PCR) and served as a member of the Executive Committee of the PCR. Petrescu was the mayor of Bucharest from February 7, 1989, until December 22, 1989, following Radu Constantin and preceding Dan Predescu. He is notably remembered for organizing a rally for Nicolae Ceaușescu on December 21, 1989.
