Barry Peter Prudom, known as the Phantom of the Forest, was an English electrician and multiple murderer born on 18 October 1944. He became notorious for being the subject of the largest manhunt in British history after killing a police officer and two civilians in June 1982. Described as an avid outdoorsman, his military survival skills helped him evade capture for 18 days. Prudom was eventually found and took his own life. His background included training with the SAS and extensive study of survival techniques.
