Barton H. Thompson was an American filmmaker and engineer born on February 10, 1906, in California. He worked at Paramount Pictures in the Engineering and Transparency Departments. Thompson, along with Farciot Edouart and Earle Morgan, received an Academy Scientific and Engineering Award in 1944 for their innovative work in duplicating and enlarging natural color photographs for film production. This involved transferring image emulsions to glass plates and projecting the slides using specially designed stereopticon equipment. He was honored with a plaque in Class II of the award.
