Sahu is a founder member of the International Association of Mathematical Geologists and is affiliated with several prestigious organizations, including the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. He received the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize in 1980 for his contributions to Earth and Planetary Sciences.
