Belton Sutherland was an American blues singer, guitarist, and songwriter born on February 14, 1911, in Camden, Mississippi. He grew up in a family of sharecroppers and faced many challenges, including the loss of his mother at a young age and personal hardships during the Great Depression. Sutherland lived in Chicago for 37 years before returning to Mississippi. He is known for his rare recordings made by Alan Lomax for the film 'The Land Where the Blues Began.' Sutherland passed away on October 7, 1983, at the age of 72.
