Ben S. Cauley Jr. (1947-2015) was an American musician renowned for his work as a trumpet player, vocalist, and songwriter. He played a significant role as a founding member of the famous Stax recording group, the Bar-Kays. His life took a dramatic turn when he survived a tragic plane crash in 1967 that resulted in the deaths of soul legend Otis Redding and four other Bar-Kays members, marking him as the sole survivor of that catastrophic event.
