Dr. Benno Malfèr (1946-2017) was a Benedictine monk from South Tyrol. He served as the Abbot of the Muri-Gries Monastery near Bolzano since 1991. Growing up in Bolzano, he completed his secondary education at a Franciscan school and joined the Muri-Gries Monastery in 1966. He was ordained a priest in 1971 and later became a professor at Sant'Anselmo. Malfèr was also the Abbot President of the Swiss Benedictine Congregation and led the Abbot Conference in Salzburg. His contributions included promoting the association for friends of the Muri Monastery Church.
