He began his career professionally in 1971 and gained international recognition after debuting in Madrid in 1973. Valencia received his formal title in 1976 and had a promising trajectory in bullfighting, notably performing in Caracas. He retired in 2010 and lived in Valencia until his sudden death from a heart attack on October 18, 2011.
