Bernhard Arthur 'Bernd' Epler is a former German middle-distance runner born on February 26, 1949, in Büsum, specializing in the 800-meter distance. He achieved notable success, winning a bronze medal in the 4x800 meter relay at the 1971 European Athletics Indoor Championships with the West German team. Throughout his career, Epler recorded a personal best time of 1:49.9 minutes in Bonn in 1970 and again in 1971. After retiring from athletics, he played handball for several years at Hamburger SV.
