Bertha Pleasant Williams (1923–2008) was a pioneering African American librarian in Montgomery, Alabama. In 1948, she became the first certified librarian in a segregated city, facilitating the opening of a library for the African American community. A graduate of Atlanta University, she established the Union Street Library and dedicated most of her career to library services, significantly impacting access to information and education for African Americans in her region.
