Big Fletchit, born Owen Campbell on May 16, 1916, in Colón, Panama, was a prominent jazz drummer who spent much of his career in Germany. He began playing jazz at the age of 12, performing with notable musicians from Panama. In 1949, he moved to Europe with Jaime Camino's music show. Fletchit was known for his resemblance to tap dancer 'Steppin’ Fletchit' and was celebrated as the 'German Gene Krupa' among fans. He founded his own trio, the 'Panorama', in 1976, and composed jazz pieces and popular songs.
