He became a Member of Parliament representing Aligarh after contesting in the 2004 Lok Sabha elections on the Indian National Congress ticket. He has served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Iglas, Aligarh five times. He currently resides in the village of Dhonda, near Iglas Tehsil. Bijendra Singh is set to stand for election again in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, this time representing the Samajwadi Party.
