William Ray Newsome, born on March 2, 1948, is a former American football defensive end who played in the NFL for teams including the Baltimore Colts, New Orleans Saints, New York Jets, and Chicago Bears. He attended Grambling State University for college football. Newsome was traded from the Colts to the Saints along with a 1973 fourth-round pick for a first-round selection in the 1973 NFL Draft on January 29, 1973.
