Birei Kin, also known as Alice King, is a Taiwan-born Japanese critic and political activist born on February 7, 1934, in Taihoku Prefecture, Taiwan. She is the president of the Shibanaga International School-JET Japanese Language School and served as a national policy adviser to President Chen Shui-bian from 2000 to 2005. Kin has been actively involved in the Taiwan independence movement for many years and has two children, including her eldest daughter Mana Shu, who works at Tokyo Broadcasting System Television.
