Birger Jørstad (April 8, 1907 – December 13, 1991) was a Norwegian lyricist, police officer, and cinema manager, primarily residing in Steinkjer. He was an accomplished football player in his youth. Several of his songs were featured in Otto Nielsen's radio program, Søndagsposten. In 1987, he became the first recipient of Steinkjer municipality's cultural award. A collection of his songs was published in 1989, illustrated by Vigdis Kvamme Nordtømme. Some of his notable songs include 'Hainnhoinn i bainn,' 'Intrøndersk vokabular,' and 'Bli' det poesi tå slekt?'
