Birger Kaada was a prominent Norwegian physician and neurophysiologist, born on July 11, 1918, in Jørpeland. He was instrumental in advancing the field of neurophysiology, establishing the Nevrofysiologisk laboratorium in 1950 and becoming a professor at the University of Oslo in 1959. His contributions to science earned him membership in the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters in 1958 and he was honored with the Knight, First Class of the Order of St. Olav in 1971. Kaada passed away on January 30, 2000.
