Birgit Edlund (1924-2000) was a Swedish translator renowned for her translations primarily from English, but also from Norwegian, Danish, and German. Over a career spanning 40 years, she translated around 100 books, including several works by Nobel laureate Isaac Bashevis Singer. Edlund held various positions, including at the U.S. Embassy in Stockholm and as a freelance translator from 1958. She was educated at Stockholm University and Syracuse University and was a board member of the Swedish Authors' Fund from 1983. She was married to Mårten Edlund from 1961 to 1983.
