Bitten Modal (5 January 1940 – 29 April 2008) was a Norwegian journalist, feminist, and author. A daughter of former mayor Jakob Modal, she studied at the Norwegian School of Journalism in the 1970s. Modal was a co-founder of the feminist magazine Sirene in 1973, advocating for women's engagement in work and societal issues. She also attended the 1974 international women's conference in New York, where she met Yoko Ono and John Lennon. Modal promoted grassroots feminist movements, aiming for active participation rather than leadership by a select few.
