Bjørg Gaselle, born Bjørg Gjendal on April 9, 1923, was a Norwegian author known for her series of books aimed at young girls, the Mette-Marit books, published from 1949. In total, 14 books featured the character Mette-Marit Tande. This series was reissued in 2001 coinciding with Mette-Marit Tjessem Høiby's engagement to Crown Prince Haakon. Gaselle began her career as a ballet dancer and later transitioned to writing, creating screenplays, including for the film 'Vi vil skilles'. She lived in Mallorca after her second marriage to Count Jean de Chantenay and passed away on March 18, 2008.
