Hedskog held significant military positions, culminating in his role as deputy operational chief at the Headquarters. He represented Sweden in NATO’s military committee from 2003 to 2006 and was made a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of War Sciences in 1999. Hedskog passed away on April 20, 2019, and is buried at Glömminge cemetery.
