Björn Gunnar Nicander is a Swedish plant physiologist born on December 8, 1952, in Danderyds församling, Stockholm County. He earned his PhD from Karolinska Institute in 1985 and currently serves as an associate professor at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala. Nicander is the son of veterinarian and professor Lennart Nicander and Anna-Lisa Mandahl, and he is the grandson of opera singer Thor Mandahl.
