Björn Wittenmark, born on March 7, 1943, in Växjö, is a Swedish civil engineer and professor who served as vice-rector at Lund University from 2003 to 2008. He earned his civil engineering degree in 1966 from Lund Institute of Technology and completed his PhD in control engineering in 1973. Wittenmark was pro-rector of Lund Institute of Technology from 1996 to 1999 and has been a department chair for several years. Along with Karl Johan Åström, he co-authored the influential paper 'On Self Tuning Regulators' in 1973.
